At Lakeside Textiles, fabric is our specialty. As professional upholsterers, we work with fabric every day and understand how important quality materials are for your projects. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

How is fabric sold?

Our fabric is sold by the yard unless otherwise noted. When you order multiple yards of the same fabric, we do our best to provide it in one continuous cut whenever possible.

For example:
If you order 3 yards, we will typically send a single 3-yard piece rather than separate cuts.

Can I return fabric if I change my mind?

Because fabric is cut specifically for your order, we cannot accept returns on cut fabric. We recommend reviewing the fabric details carefully before purchasing. If you have questions about texture, durability, or suitability for your project, we’re always happy to help.

How do I know the fabric is good quality?

Fabric quality is something we take very seriously. As professional upholsterers, we work with fabric daily and understand what makes a material durable, workable, and worth investing in.

Every fabric order is inspected before it is cut and shipped to ensure it meets our quality standards. Our goal is to make sure you receive fabric that we would confidently use in our own upholstery projects.

Will the fabric color look exactly like the photos?

We do our best to photograph fabrics accurately, but colors can appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings. Small variations between dye lots can also occur during textile production.

If you’re working on a project that requires precise color matching, we recommend purchasing all the fabric you need at one time.

What if my fabric arrives damaged or incorrect?

While we carefully inspect every order before shipping, mistakes can happen. If you believe you received the wrong fabric or a defective item, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the issue. We will review it and work with you to find the best solution.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are processed within 1–2 business days before shipment. Once shipped, delivery time depends on the shipping carrier and your location.

You will receive tracking information once your order leaves our shop.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

At this time we do not offer expedited shipping, as delivery times cannot be guaranteed by carriers.

How much fabric do I need for my project?

Fabric requirements depend on the type of project, pattern repeat, and the dimensions of the item you’re covering.

Because we are experienced upholsterers, we’re happy to help guide you if you’re unsure how much fabric to order. Feel free to reach out with your project details.

Should I wash my fabric before sewing?

For most sewing projects, no pre-washing! Upholstery will not come pre-shrunk and is not like clothing that is designed to be washed many times.

If you’re unsure about the best care method for your fabric, please contact us and we’ll gladly help.

Can I order fabric for upholstery projects?

Absolutely. Upholstery is actually our specialty. We understand the importance of durability, weight, and performance when selecting fabrics for furniture and high-use items.

Can I modify or cancel my order?

Because orders are processed quickly and fabric is cut specifically for each customer, order changes or cancellations must be requested within 12 hours of purchase.
